November 15, 1990 – May 18, 2010
Kara Lynn Lundby, 19, of Great Falls, died from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident midmorning on Tuesday, May 18, near Philip, South Dakota. Kara was born November 15, 1990 in Great Falls, Montana to Leonard and Janis Lundby. Kara was home schooled and was continuing her education as an intern on the Solomon Farm in Okaton, South Dakota.
Her goal was to become a horseback riding instructor. She was following her passion of working and riding horses, and loved her home away from home, where she meant the cowboy of her dreams. Kara loved animals. Horses always first, but dogs, kittens, hamsters, parakeets and rabbits pulled on her heartstrings, but turkeys she hated. At five years old she sold dog biscuits at the Farmer’s Market. Her baking skills advanced to award winning chocolate chip cookies. Her latest culinary talent was some of the best Italian cooking you could imagine.
She enjoyed writing novels, drawing, jig saw puzzles, card tricks, and reading. She showed sheep, cats, rabbits, and a steer through 4-H, participated on Central Assembly of God’s puppet team and earned the Timothy Award in Awana. She played piano, and fiddled with the Friends of Shirley Menghini. Kara achieved the rank of Cadet Captain in Civil Air Patrol, earning the Amelia Earhart Award. She enjoyed tap dancing, but didn’t have time to try ice hockey. She was the mower girl at Triangle Turf Farm. She was briefly employed at Chili’s and Happy Tails Lodge before going to South Dakota. She could light up a room with laughter. She was sure everything would always work out.
She is survived by her parents Leonard and Janis, brother Kirk and, sister Kendra Lundby, fiance Josh Swaringenm Grandmothers Katheryn Burckhard Lundby of Great Falls, and Genevieve Tenney Harwood of Shelby, Uncles and Aunts; Tom and Linda Harwood, Shelby, John and Carol Harwood, Jolliet, Don and Maureen Lundby, Great Falls, numerous cousins, great aunts, and her writing buddies.
